This Lightning Talk explores how active learning, service-learning, and challenge-based approaches enhance students’ research competence while generating real social impact.
This Lightning Talk explores how active learning, service-learning, and challenge-based approaches enhance students’ research competence while generating real social impact. Based on a mixed-method study of Final Degree Projects, it demonstrates how authentic challenges, community partnerships, and structured reflection strengthen methodological skills, critical thinking, and engagement. Concrete student projects developed in real urban contexts illustrate how applied research can address societal needs. The session also highlights the role of a structured reflection notebook in supporting learning documentation, deepening analysis, and reinforcing students’ research identity.
