Elements of success in the design of micromodules in education: outputs from INCO-ECTE project
Elements of success in the design of micromodules in education: outputs from INCO-ECTE project
This session presents the European project INCO-ECTE, which aims to create dynamic learning opportunities in Early Childhood Teacher Education through internationalisation at home and abroad. The project developed two credit-bearing ECIU micro-modules with blended formats, combining virtual learning and short-term mobility. Following a second-year pilot, the session highlights the key elements that contributed to a meaningful and engaging learning experience. Focusing on themes such as communication, democracy, and creativity, the presentation will outline the structure of the micro-modules and share insights from both students and the project team on what made these courses successful.

Smart Manufacturing in ECIU Universities: research, micro-modules and challenge ECIU INSA
This session presents an ECIU University micro-module and challenge jointly developed by INSA Toulouse and University of Trento, alongside a collaborative research project involving the University of Aveiro, Linköping University, and Lodz University of Technology. The session outlines how these institutions co-design a shared learning pathway that combines online lectures, case studies, and a transnational student challenge. It presents the pedagogical structure, including partner roles, learning objectives, and assessment approaches. Focusing on real industrial problems in smart machining, the challenge integrates topics such as data acquisition, multi-agent systems, and energy-efficient manufacturing. The session also reflects on student engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the added value of international cooperation within the ECIU framework.

A New Blended Multi-Module Format for ECIU Learning Opportunities
This session introduces the Soft Skills and AI ELO, a novel blended format that combines five complementary micromodules into a single credit-bearing course. Each module is delivered by externally selected expert instructors, bringing professional perspectives beyond traditional academic teaching. By integrating soft skills development with AI-enabled tools, the course offers a holistic and forward-looking learning experience. The session highlights how this flexible design responds to evolving workplace needs and explores its potential as a new type of ELO, distinct from existing micromodules and challenges
